Our Family Ministries team believes when parents and the church work together we can achieve a better, more effective outcome than either one can when working alone. We want to work in partnership with you to combine the two most critical influences in life (family & faith) to fuel the hope, trust and confidence in Jesus in the next generation.
Together, let's think Orange.
Orange is what red (representing the warm heart of the family) and yellow (representing the light of the church) can do when they combine efforts. If you paint only with red, you will get what only red can do. If you paint only with yellow, you will get what only yellow can do. When you paint with red and yellow, you’ll get new possibilities, fresh solutions and vibrant outcomes.

After watching the video, say:
"Compassion means caring enough to do something about someone else's need.
"I love it when other people have compassion towards me and make me feel like I matter to them; so I want to do the same for them. I know that I should treat others the way I want to be treated. Tonight, we're going to come up with some ways our family can show compassion.
"If you want to know what compassion looks like, look at Jesus! Jesus knew what He had come to Earth to do. He had come to help people and meet their needs. He showed kindness and forgiveness to people who had messed up. He healed people who were sick. He loved those who were rejected by others. He taught people how to live in freedom, wisdom, and love.
"When we put our trust in Jesus, His Spirit lives within us. The Spirit helps us show compassion to the people around us. It means caring about the people ‘on your block’—whether it’s your actual neighbors or maybe kids at school.
Ask your kids examples of who they could show compassion to.
"That's right! We are called to show Compassion to everyone and ANYONE you meet, anywhere! You can show compassion to the people God has put in your life and show them how much you care."

THE BIG QUESTION
How will your family show compassion?
Say: "Let's come up with some ways we can show compassion to the people in our lives."
Spend a few minutes making a list of how you and your kids can show compassion to people in your lives. Then, work together to make a family plan for how you can show compassion this month.
Examples:
"We are going to pick a person to pray for each day. We will write their name on the calendar and pray for them each night at dinner."
"We are going to spend time tonight collecting all of our unused toys and clothes and donate them to a charity."
"We are going to make cards for seniors at a nursing home and drop them off this weekend."
Pray and ask God to help each of you see opportunities this month where you can practice compassion.
