Water Baptism

If you would like to be baptized, please submit the form below or contact the church office.
WHAT IS WATER BAPTISM?
Water baptism is not conversion; it does not have any saving merit. It is not church membership. It is a step of obedience to the command of Jesus (Matthew 28:19). It is the biblical way to witness publicly that you have accepted Christ as your personal Saviour.

WHEN SHOULD I BE BAPTIZED?
You should be baptized at the FIRST opportunity. Don’t put it off! Being baptized in water is a sign of your conversion and faith.

WHAT IF I WAS BAPTIZED AS A BABY?
We recognize that some believers practice infant baptism. The reason we do not adhere to this practice is because we can find absolutely no biblical basis for it. Not one time is the church ever instructed to baptize babies. We are, however, instructed to baptize those who have genuinely received Christ as Saviour. We strongly recommend that children not be baptized before their tenth birthday.

WAS WATER BAPTISM COMMANDED BY JESUS?
Yes! Jesus clearly taught that every Christian must be baptized in water. Water baptism was ordained by Jesus Christ, both by His own example and by His direct command (Matthew 3:13; 28:19).

IS WATER BAPTISM SYMBOLIC OF SOMETHING?
Water baptism is a picture of what Christ has done in your heart. It is a symbolic act that shows in a visible way that you are now dead to the “old life” and alive to the “new life” through Jesus Christ. Going down under the water signifies your death to the old nature, and coming up out of the water signifies your decision to walk in the resurrection power of Christ (Romans 6:3-6; Colossians 2:6).

CAN I FOLLOW JESUS WITHOUT WATER BAPTISM?
If you really desire to follow Jesus wholeheartedly, you will want to follow His command and His example. Water baptism is a public confession that your sins are forgiven and that you have become a true follower of the Lord Jesus Christ.

WHERE ELSE AM I INSTRUCTED TO BE BAPTIZED?
The very first sermon preached after Pentecost was delivered by the Apostle Peter. In it he said, “Repent, and be baptized, every one of you!” (Acts 2:38) Following the sermon, “they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.” (Acts 2:41)

WHAT IS THE SCRIPTURAL MODE OF BAPTISM?
The scriptural mode of baptizing is by immersion. The Bible teaches that a person receiving water baptism should be dipped entirely under the water as a symbol of burial of the old life.

WHAT NAME DO YOU USE TO BAPTIZE?
We use the instructions Jesus gave us in Matthew 28:19. We believe “in the Name of God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.” The really important thing, however, is not what is said, but what is accomplished.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO THE BAPTISM SERVICE?
A detailed list of clothing and items needed for your water baptism will be provided upon receipt of your application.
