Missions
& Outreach

What is our mission?

Our mission at Parkwood is to help people find hope in the person of Jesus and find home in His family.
Our mission spans locally, regionally, nationally, and globally (Acts 1:8). We believe every person in the local church has a role in this mission; in fact, it’s the mission of each generation until Christ returns (Matthew 28:18-20). Your mission can begin in your own neighbourhood, as well as reaching beyond Windsor to “all nations.”

PARKWOOD FOOD BANK
One of the ways we love our neighbours (Mark 12:30-31) is by assisting those in need. The Parkwood Food Bank provides people with healthy food who would otherwise go without. We accept food donations which can be dropped off any Sunday in the front lobby or during the week at the church office. To volunteer at the food bank, contact the church office.
Hours of Operation: Tuesdays & Fridays, 10 AM–1 PM (closed on statutory holidays)
Phone: 519-948-7055 Ext 242
For those looking to access the food bank, click on the link below. You will need to provide ID, show proof of household income, residency, and monthly expenses.
PARKWOOD LADIES OUTREACH MISSION
PLOM is a group of ladies who sow seeds of hope and encouragement by sewing, knitting and crocheting various items for local groups and organizations that, in turn, distribute them to needy families. Crafting and creativity combine with community to make a difference. Their creations have been given to such organizations as the Melo Clinic, Hiatus House, Downtown Mission, and Huron Lodge, to name a few. They meet on Mondays at 1 PM (holidays excepted).
BEGLEY SCHOOL BREAKFAST PROGRAM
The Begley Breakfast Program prepares nutritious breakfasts and snacks for students in need. Please consider joining our team and help make a difference in the lives of these children.
STREET LIGHT
Street Light is a partnership between Parkwood, Exchange Church, the Downtown Windsor Community Collaborative, and other churches. It is a community outreach dedicated to loving our neighbours living on the streets of Windsor. Teams head out on Mondays, 9-11 AM, Wednesdays, 5-7 PM, and Saturdays, 9-11 AM to cultivate relationships with the marginalized and be the aroma of Christ in the downtown core (2 Corinthians 2:14). It’s all about loving our neighbours with no fixed address, as Christ would. And it’s about getting church DNA into our downtown community. Ongoing training is provided. If you’re interested in joining, see Pastor Brian Harrison, call 519-903-7629 or email bob@dwcc.ca.

Prayer

God tells us to pray for ALL people (2 Chronicles 7:14; Acts 17:26-27; 1 Timothy 2:1). Continually connecting with God and praying missionally is a part of what Christ followers are called to do. Pray for our neighbourhoods, city, province, country, world; for our global workers; for the persecuted church; for how the church can best serve the kingdom of God at this point in history.

Our Global Workers

You can join with others in helping people find hope beyond our borders. Support our global workers by finding out more about them, praying for them, sending them encouragement, or by financial giving.
